Linux Rants

- Not sure if I agree with this. I’ve been using Windows 7 on one of my test machines, and I’ve been pretty happy with it so far. Honestly, if you waited for all the problems to be worked out of Windows, you’d never install it in the first place. Then again, maybe you should just install Linux and wait for all the bugs to be worked out of Windows. You’ll be happier for it.

- One of the huge benefits of Linux. It’ll go on almost anything.

- It’s going to be interesting to see all the new devices (and old) that come out with Android 2.0. Everything I’ve read recently says that it’s a solid OS which matches the iPhone OS on pretty much all levels. The fact that it’s also an open development platform should add a significant advantage to Google.

- Seems unlikely, but who knows?

- Not sure how they can tell how successful it was before any phones are actually in people’s hands. Tad premature maybe?

- Get there early.

- I’ve been looking for functionality like the dock for my iPhone, but I haven’t even been able to find a decent Clock Radio that will use the iPhone as the Alarm clock. On top of that, adding the car kit in will be an excellent feature when combined with Google’s new GPS software.

- Looks like most people LOVE the new Droid from Verizon. I’m anxious for the 6th of November, so I can run down to my local Verizon store to check it out. I won’t be able to buy one, but at least I can hold it in my hot little hand.

- Today is the DAY!! Get your copy of Ubuntu 9.10 today!

- Looks like more Android on the way. Is Apple shaking in it’s little space boots yet?

- This is what’s on a lot of people’s minds right now.

- Yep, another one.

- If you’re thinking that Chrome is available now, you’re probably not paying attention, or you’re pirating and you’re not very bright.

- Endless Reboot? Didn’t Windows 95 have that? Windows 98 too I think. Windows XP? Vista? Has there been a Windows version that DIDN’T have endless reboots?

- Kinda figured that this was the case, but didn’t see anybody confirming it until now. What will Apple do in response? What CAN Apple do in response?

- Another Droid informational article. There’s probably going to be a bunch of these for a while.

- This app being available free on Android will put a lot of pressure on both Apple and GPS manufacturers. Should be interesting to see what comes out in the near future to compete.

- Official details from Verizon on the Motorola Droid phone. Lots of good information here.

- More Linux in the world. Every time I hear of a new device that’s running Linux, it makes me smile. When will the desktop market catch up to everybody else?

- This COULD be an effort by Amazon to stay competitive now that Ubuntu is offering Ubuntu One. Of course, Ubuntu One may not even be on Amazon’s radar. I guess we’ll have to wait to find out.

- I know, we’re all shocked by this. That’s because it’s SHOCKING! Who would ever have guessed?

- If I had nickel for each one of these head to head comparisons, I’d be retired on a beach in Maui right about now, but they’re still fun to read for some reason.

- It had to happen eventually. With Ubuntu being what I’d argue as the defacto distro of choice, this has probably gotten to be pretty expensive.

- I really, REALLY am loving this phone. Can’t wait to see how the phone market changes in the next year or so.

- Gosh, I hope they get it and embed ads all over their OS, forcing Microsoft to copy them, and forcing every sane person with a pulse to switch over to Linux. I swear, the first time I see an actual ADVERTISEMENT in my Operating System, that Operating System will be gone in the time it takes me to download a new ISO and burn it.

- Mixing Politics and Software?? Seems like asking for hate mail. Next thing you know, someone will be claiming that Democrats use Linux/Mac and Republicans use Windows. Or something. Who knows with this crap?

- This phone looks seriously hot. I have an iPhone 3Gs right now, and won’t be upgrading to a new phone any time soon, but I’m VERY excited to see all the new development going on in the Android market. By the time my contract is up and I can get a new phone, Android just might rule the roost.

- I’m really, REALLY looking forward to this release. I usually download and install it at least in a VM, but I haven’t had the chance with this one yet.

- Buy it while you can kids, because I seriously doubt that Apple is going to lose this one.

- I’ve only seen one of these so far (the “Trust Me” one), but based off of that one, if that’s the best Apple’s got, Windows 7 must be REALLY worrying them. It was pretty lame.
